Anyway... enough about EMAIL.
Another great day in the Southwest! Wowza! We woke up at a humane hour. As far as I'm concerned work starts at an inhumane hour, so vacation for me is all about humane hours. :) We packed up our Crown Vic and headed over to Denny's! For the record, Denny's has gotten a bad rap. I'd WAY rather eat there then Perkins or Village Inn for breakfast. I mean really, the menu is pretty much based on the word "slam." A ham "slamwich..." funny. Moons over my hammy... no slam, but still funny. So, there you have it, Denny's is underrated, I'm calling it here first.
The waitress told us that she overheard a passer through on the phone saying, "these poor people, all they have to look at are these rocks." Yeah, so sad for them. :/ Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, also, they were an idiot. ;) All we have to look at is TJMax, Coralridge Mall... poor losers in Arizona. :)
ANYWHO! We went on a guided tour of Antelope Canyon today. A-MA-ZING! It was really a blast. We loaded on to the back of a truck (12 of us) and headed off on rough terrain trek to the canyon. Chief Rob was our guide and he was awesome. Knew a lot about canyons and cameras and helped us all get some great shots. There was some pretty amazing photo equipment out there today on the tour. We were all in awe of the scenery. Hard to take a bad shot.
Love this shot. I have so many pictures, we took pictures in this space for 2 hours straight. Pretty great.
Rob would throw sand into the light beam -- the sand reflected the light and made for an awesome shot. There were massive amounts of people clicking away on cameras. There was a lot of camaraderie! Fun to take pictures with people that are in awe of the same things you are. There was another couple from Michigan, but everyone else on the tour was from outside the U.S. Poor Rob kept chasing one of the ladies down who refused to stay with the group. She informed many of us that she was an artist. :) She gave Rob her tripod and off she went. Rob mentioned it to her husband that he couldn't find her, he couldn't have cared less. That man was as serious as his wife about getting his pictures. lol.
It's us! Rob took this shot for us.
From there it was off to Horseshoe Bend! Just a small little hike we saw on the way in. As Nick said today, everything has been way better then we could have anticipated. To be honest, I have yet to take a picture that I've said, "yeah, that really captures what I just saw." You just have to see some of these things to believe them.
I thought Nick was going to pass out. The heights got to him here. They used to get to him, but he hasn't struggled with them as much any more. to be honest, it's usually me that gets weak legged. I caught him in this shot as he was staggering back. He got really freaked out about how close I was to the edge (not close) and then the heights got him. Fortunately, he recovered quickly.
Nick took this while saying, NO CLOSER, NO CLOSER! EMIE, I SAID NO CLOSER. :)
The back of our Crown Vic and our Red Rock Motel from last night.
We've seen a few of these little lizzards running around. They love having their pic taken. :)
Well, enough's enough. I can hardly move today. Tomorrow should be interesting, we'll be hiking through areas where the water will be chest high at points... hopefully I don't freeze to death. I'm excited, hopefully I can do it! :)
